The mill
This holiday home is an antique mill of 112 m2 from the 18th century. It has a rustic charm with hand-moulded, irregular tiles and a spring that gurgles out of the rock in the house. Antique tools hang on the walls. The thick stone walls ensure a pleasantly cool climate inside the house, even without air conditioning.
This is not a modern comfort holiday home. Please note that water is constantly running in the house. Please only book if you are happy with this.
On the upper level, the mill has a spacious living room with five sofas that can be used as single beds, a bathroom with a small bathtub and a bedroom with a double bed.
On the lower level is the kitchen, another bathroom with a small bathtub, an alcove behind a curtain with another double bed and a single bed, a dining area with a wood-burning stove and a stone water basin into which fresh water from the mill's own spring flows directly from the rock. There is another single bed under the wooden staircase next to the dining table.
The kitchen with washing machine is also in the basement.
There is a bathroom with WC and small bath with shower curtain on each floor.
Thanks to the warmth of the wood-burning stove, the mill is cosy even in winter. The mill can accommodate a total of 11 adults in two double beds and seven single beds.
A large south-east-facing terrace with a vine-covered pergola offers wonderful views of the wooded valley.
The house stands on the eastern slope. In the morning, you can greet the sunrise from the terrace. In the afternoon, when it gets hot in summer, the terrace is in pleasant shade and often enjoys a light, cooling breeze.
The pool, which the mill shares with the other holiday homes on the property, also promises to cool you down.
The boiler for hot water and the hob are powered by gas bottles. When a cylinder runs out, guests can change it themselves. Gas bottles are available for changing on the terrace under the boiler. We are happy to help you change them.
The property is located in the countryside outside the white village of Algatocín. There is a lively nature here with many insects and other animals. We recommend keeping food that attracts insects in the fridge and always washing tables and worktops well, otherwise ant trails will develop through the house within hours.
Environmental protection is important to us, so we try to avoid using poison as far as possible. In the houses there are mosquito nets on the windows and ultrasonic devices for the power socket to keep insects and rodents away. Despite these measures, it can sometimes happen that mosquitoes, ants or wasps enter the house.
Please only book if you have read the description of the houses and the surrounding area carefully, have made a conscious decision to stay in the countryside and agree to the liveliness that comes with it.
